The Bay State Games Charity Running Team gives runners the opportunity to compete in the 2018 Boston Marathon which will take place on Monday, April 16th. Our goal is to raise funds while providing runners with an opportunity to achieve their lifetime goal of competing in the Boston Marathon. Each team member will be responsible for raising a minimum of $8,500. These funds are essential to allow the Bay State Games to continue its mission of producing quality recreational, health, and educational programming for Massachusetts citizens of all ages and abilities.
Bay State Games works with Charity Teams, under the direction of Susan Hurley, to provide team members with support and resources to achieve their marathon training and fundraising goals. Bay State Games team members have access to a Crowdrise Fundraising tool to handle their on-line donations as well as fundraising tips and examples of successful fundraising strategies. Team members will have access to weekly long distance training runs, hill workouts on the marathon course and two training runs on the actual Boston Marathon course. Team members will also have access to monthly team meetings with guest speakers on areas such as injury prevention, nutrition, running and fundraising tips. Team members will also receive several amenities including a Team Singlet, Bay State Games clothing, access to a private bus on race day to Hopkinton and other benefits.
If you are interested in running the Boston Marathon and raising money to support important programming which benefits thousands of participants annually, applications are now being accepted. Bay State Games will review applications and select team members on a rolling basis.
