DIVISIONS |
|
Junior: Age 14 & Under with no previous tournament experience. Minimum age is 10.
Scholastic: Age 19 & Under with no previous tournament experience
Competitive Junior: Age 15 & under with previous tournament experience
Open A: Advanced
Open B: Intermediate
Open C: Beginner (little or no previous tournament experience)
Senior: Age 45 & older
Masters: Age 55 & older
*All ages as of July 9, 2011
**Tournament director reserves right to combine/cancel divisions based on entries
**Tournament Director reserves right to change a players division if he/she warrants that a specific players experience warrants.

ELIGIBILITY |
An athlete must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- A full-time resident of Massachusetts for 30 days prior to the competition.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in Massachusetts.
- A registered member of a badminton club in Massachusetts, for which you are entering. The club must be your exclusive “contact” with the sports. Athletes using the club membership for eligibility may not be a member of a non Massachusetts club.

EVENTS |
- The Bay State Games Badminton tournament will offer singles, doubles and mixed doubles events.

Players under 18 can enter a maximum of 4 events. This can include 2 singles (1 in the regular draw "A, B or C" as well as their age group appropriate division), 1 double event and 1 mix event.

Players between 18-44 can enter a maximum of 3 events (1 single, 1 double and 1 mix double.)

Players age 45 and older can enter a maximum of 3 events (single, double or mix double.)

If an athlete meets the eligibility requirements, he/she can enter different divisions (junior, open, senior or master) for different events, but he/she may not enter in different flights. For example, a junior player can play in scholastic singles and open C singles but cannot sign up for both Open B and C singles.

Doubles players who play in multiple age divisions must play with the same partner.
- The tournament will be formatted so that all players will have at least two matches per event.

FEE |
$35 for up to two events.
$20 for each additional event. |

AWARDS |
- All participants receive an official Bay State Games T-shirt.

Medals are awarded to the top three in each division.
- Award jackets are presented to the gold medal winners in each division. |

ENTRY DEADLINE |
Entries must be postmarked by June 30, 2011. Confirmation sent by July 1. |

EVENT SCHEDULE |
Every effort will be made to play events through the finals on the day scheduled, but we reserve the right to carry over events to Sunday depending on number of entries. |

Players will not be defaulted if they arrive before the following earliest starting time.

- All players must arrive at least 30 minutes before their starting time.
- The draw and starting time is an estimation only and may change at the last minute. Players should attempt to arrive around the time listed under the "Earliest starting time". If players do decide to use their individual starting time, please check the website regularly for updates. |
