Cadet: Ages 5-9
Open: Ages 16-18

Junior: Ages 10-12
Masters: Ages 19 and older
Scholastic: Ages 13-15

ELIGIBILITY
To qualify for a region, an athlete must be ONE of the following:
- A full-time resident within the region for 30 days prior to first day of tryouts.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in the region.
- A registered member of a baton twirling club in Massachusetts, for which you are entering. The club must be your exclusive “contact” with the sports. Athletes using the club membership for eligibility may not be a member of a non Massachusetts club.
 
INDIVIDUAL EVENTS
- Athletes can enter up to four individual events.
- Athletes can enter only one level in 1 Baton, 2 Baton, Basic March and X-Strut.
- Athletes must fill out an individual application form and indicate event codes on form.

TEAM EVENTS
- Large and small team events are offered in Cadet, Junior, Scholastic and Open divisions.
- Small team events are limited to 4-8 members. Large teams are 9 members and up.
- Divisions may be combined by Sport Coordinator if warranted.
- Team music will be chosen by the coach.
- Team age divisions are computed by an average age of the team members as of July 10, 2010.
- Team coaches must fill out the Baton Twirling Team Application listed below.
 
FORMAT/RULES
- An athlete does not need to be a member of a national baton twirling organization.
- No double entering allowed. No gymnastics allowed.
- Novice X-Strut enters Beginner level. Intermediate X-Strut enters Advanced level.
- All NBTA Rules apply, with the exception of competition age.
 
TIMING
Novice 1 Baton: 0:30 - 2:00
Beginner 1 Baton: 1:30 - 2:00
Intermediate 1 Baton: 1:50 – 2:10
Advanced 1 Baton: 2:20 – 2:30
Beg/Adv 2 Baton; Beg/Adv X-Strut: 1:30 – 2:00
Teams: 2:00 – 3:00
 
ENTRY FEE
Entry fee: $35
- Athletes can enter up to 6 events
(1 baton, 2 baton, basic march, x-strut, small team and large team).
 
REGIONS
To determine your region, please check the Town Codes.
 
AWARDS
- All participants receive an official Bay State Summer Games T-shirt.
- Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each division and event.  
- Award jackets are presented to the gold medal winners in each division and event.
- Athletes who win gold in more than one event, including team events, will only receive
- one jacket
 
START TIMES

Doors open at 8:00 a.m., competition begins at 9:00 a.m. with team events.
An awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of both the team and individual events.

 
ENTRY DEADLINE

Entries must be postmarked by June 22, 2010. Confirmation sent by July 1, 2010.
