- Open to athletes in bordering states without a recognized state games judo competition which includes Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode
Island and Vermont.
- Minimum age has been reduced to 5 years old.
- Medals and jackets are awarded to the top three finishers in each weight class.
- Competition is hosted in an air conditioned facility.
- Bay State Games is in the process of applying for a sanction from USA Judo. Sanction information will be posted on this website when available.
DIVISIONS
Co-Ed Age 5: Male and female athletes age 5. Boys Age 6-7: Male athletes age 6 and 7. Girls Age 6-7: Female athletes age 6 and 7. Boys Age 8-12: Male athletes age 8 to 12. Girls Age 8-12: Female athletes age 8 to 12. Boys Age 13-16: Male athletes age 13 to 16. Girls Age 13-16: Female athletes age 13 to 16. Men Age 17 and older (White to Green Belt): Male athletes age 17 and older with a White to Green belt. Women Age 17 and older (All Ranks): Female athletes age 17 and older with any rank. Men Age 17 and older (Brown to Black Belt): Male athletes age 17 and older with a Brown to Black belt. Masters: Athletes age 30 and older
- All ages as of July 10, 2011. Participants must be at least 5 years old to enter.

Athletes may only enter one (1) division with the exception of those eligable for the Masters division who may compete in the Masters and/or Age 17-older divisions..

The Tournament Director reserves the right to combine or cancel divisions if there are an insufficient number of entrants. With the exception of the brown & black belt division, weight classes within each age division will be determined after the weigh-in.

ELIGIBILITY
An athlete must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- A full-time resident of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode
Island or Vermont for 30 days prior to the competition.
- A full-time student at a recognized academic institution in Massachusetts.
- A registered member of a sport club in Massachusetts, for which you are entering. The club must be your exclusive “contact” with the sports. Athletes using the club membership for eligibility may not be a member of a non Massachusetts club. Please note, Athletes who are not members of USJI, USJF, or USJA must contact the Bay State Games office at 781-932-6555.
FORMAT
- The competition will be double elimination with a pool system.
- Each athlete is guaranteed a minimum of two (2) matches.
- All matches consist of one three minute period (except for men’s brown & black belt which consists of one four minute period).
MEET SANCTION
The 2011 Bay State Games Judo competition will be sanctioned by USA Judo. All competitors must be a member in good standing of one of the following organizations: USJA, USJF or USA Judo. If anyone is not a member of any one of these organizations, contact Rick Meara at 781-507-4082 for additional details and membership information.
RULES
- All divisions are governed by I.J.F. rules.
- Arm locks are not permitted in any division (except for men’s brown & black belt).
- Chokes are not permitted in divisions with athletes age 5 to 12.
ENTRY FEE
Entry fee: $30 for first event
$20 for second event (Masters only)
AWARDS
- All participants receive a Bay State Games T-shirt.
