Each year, the centerpiece of the Bay State Winter Games figure skating competition at Williams College is the Bay State Skate Figure Skating Show. The 2011 Bay State Skate features the talent of New England Regional and District 1 medalists from the USFSA and ISI ranks, as well as Winter Games medal winners.
It has become a custom to kick off the show with a march of the athletes into the Williams College Rink. Leading the procession will be the medal winners from all of Friday and Saturday’s Winter Games events.
It is also a tradition for the show performers to pass a lit torch at the end of the show as a sign of the shared Olympic spirit amongst the athletes.
Last year’s show was hosted by WNAW radio personality Mike Garland, and the 2008 Berkshire Idol winner, Kristina Clark, sang the National Anthem.
