Rules I Winners

In 2009, the Bay State Games created the High School Spirit Program to support high school athletic programs across Massachusetts. There is no obligation on the part of the athletic director or the school. There is no sign up for the program and all schools will be included. We simply ask all athletic directors to assist with promoting the Bay State Games at your school and in your community. This program includes athletes both the Bay State Winter and Summer Games giving all participants the opportunity to show their school spirit and help support the high school athletic program in their community.

• This grant program will be based on the participation levels of students from specific schools in the Bay State Winter Games and Bay State Summer Games.

• Any prep, private or public school in Massachusetts is eligible for the program.

• Based upon enrollment, all schools will be placed in one of three categories: Small = under 500 students
Medium = 501-999 students
Large = 1,000 or more students

• The program begins with the start of the Bay State Winter Games registration in November, and ends with the conclusion of the Bay State Summer Games in July.

• Results will be tabulated and winners will be announced in August.

• Each time a person registers to participate in the Games, they will have one vote for the school of their choice to win one of the available grants.

• The program will not be limited to current students from the school. Since the Bay State Games involves athletes ranging in age from 6 to 86, each participant will be allowed one vote for a school. This will enable parents, relatives, alumni and community supporters to all have a vote in determining which schools will win the grants.

• Within each school size category, the distribution of grants will be as follows: $1,000 = most participants
$500 = second most participants
$250 = third most participants.
In the event of a tie, a drawing will be held with all schools which are tied to determine the grant winner.
