Eligibility:
Athletes must also meet at least one of the criteria below:
- A full-time resident of Massachusetts
- A full-time student of a Massachusetts academic institution
- A registered member of a swimming club in Massachusetts.

You may attend any ONE qualifier of your choosing based on your own availability
Qualifier 1 - *each session will be capped at 100 swimmers*

Session 1: 13 & over
Warm-up: 8:15 a.m. - Start: 9:00 a.m.
Session 2: 12 & under
Warm-up: 12:45 p.m. - Start: 1:30 p.m.

*Warm-up is open and will last 45 minutes. The final 15 minutes of warm-up will be used for sprints

Saturday Trials:
Warm-up: 8:30 a.m.

Saturday Finals:
*top 10 swimmers in each event advance

*all 10 & under events are timed finals in the morning.
**400 IM, 500 FR, 200 FL, and 1000 FR are all timed finals.
- Athletes may enter a maximum of six (6) events
- 10 & under swimmers may not sign up for 200s of stroke or distance freestyle events
- All participants are asked to provide events and seed times (in SCY) on their registration form
- Athletes registering online should have their event and seed time information ready before they log on to register

Course
- All qualifying races will be in short course yards (SCY). Finals will be in short course yards (SCY)
- Qualifiers are timed finals. Finals are a Prelims/Finals format
- Seeding for the finals will be based on times achieved at the qualifiers
- At the finals, the following events will be timed finals: 200 fly, 400 IM, 500 FR, 1000 FR
Finalists
The top 5 finishers at each qualifier, in each division and event, will advance to the finals. In addition, the next best 10 times (division/event) throughout BOTH of the qualifiers will advance.
Rules
- No membership to any swim organization is required
- USA Swimming rules apply at the qualifiers and finals
- USA Swimming officials will be used at all meets
- All athletes must attend a qualifier.
- Athletes must swim in their age group and cannot move up.
- The Bay State Games Swimming Qualifier meets are USA Swimming observed meets
New England Swimming Observations Form
The 2026 Bay State Games Swimming qualifiers and finals are observed meets by New England Swimming. Registered USA Swimming members must fill out this form and turn it in at each qualifier and final, if they wish to submit their times to USA Swimming.

2026 & 2028 State Games of America
The competition will serve as a last chance qualifier for the 2026 (SGA) in late July in State College, Pennsylvania AND the 2028 in Colorado Springs, CO. Athletes who win a medal at the 2026 Bay State Winter Games will receive invitations to both SGA events.
