Eligibility

An athlete must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A full-time resident of MA, ME, NH, RI, VT, NY, or CT 
  • A full-time student of an academic institution in Massachusetts
  • A full-time member of a Massachusetts Weightlifting Club 

This is a snatch and clean & jerk competition with three attempts at each lift. The best snatch and clean & jerk will be combined for a total score.

  • Youth 1: Age 9 - 12
  • Youth 2: Age 13 - 17
  • Junior: Age 18 - 20
  • Open: Age 21 - 34
  • Masters: Age 35+

USA Weightlifting Federation Rules apply to the competition. 


Sanction

This will be a sanctioned competition by USA Weightlifting.

The 2025 sanction number is 13791


Membership

USA Weightlifting membership is not required to enter the competition. Athletes not currently members of USA Weightlifting that would like to become members can go to the USA Weightlifting website HERE or call USA Weightlifting at 719-866-4508 for additional information. 

2028 State Games of America

The 2026 Bay State Games Weightlifting competition serves as a qualifier for the 2028 State Games of America. All medalists (gold, silver, and bronze) in this event will qualify for the 2028 State Games of America in Colorado Springs, CO.


The 2028 State Games of America will be hosted by the Rocky Mountain State Games.
