Metro Come Up Short Against Southeast/Coastal

Central Edge Past Northeast

Central narrowly defeated Northeast, 49-45, on Friday at Lasell University. Natalia Morais scored 14 points to lead Central. Trailing 12-5, Northeast went on an 8-point run to take the lead. Central got out to a 25-22 lead at halftime before closing out the victory. Central controlled the first quarter, outscoring Northeast 10-5. Central scored at will in the paint. They went 15-16 on twos. Central shot well from distance, going 4-4 from three. Morais knocked down two shots from beyond the arc for Central. Central passed the ball well with 14 assists on 19 made baskets. Madelyn Hogan (9 points), Bronwyn LaChapelle (6 points), Maya Lewis (6 points), Marren Berry (5 points), Elizabeth Lynch (3 points), Billie Whittle (2 points), and Claire Acocelli (2 points) also pitched in for Central. Ashley Cohen led Northeast in scoring with 16 points. Northeast scored at will in the paint. They went 13-13 on twos. Hannah Frew and Cohen each hit multiple three-pointers for Northeast. The team shot 7-8 (88%) from beyond the arc. Also contributing for Northeast were Haley Dube (9 points), Frew (6 points), Celia Harrington (6 points), Stella Harrington (5 points), Maddy Rodrigues (3 points), and Sydney Schofield (3 points).

Kiara Collins Has Big Day In Metro Loss To West

Kiara Collins scored 17 points, but Metro still fell to West, 63-55, on Friday. Leading 12-9, West went on a 12-2 run to pull further away. Trailing 40-28, Metro went on a 9-point run to close the gap. Metro played particularly well in the third quarter, outscoring West 9-7. Teagan Precourt hit two threes for Metro. Metro passed the ball well with 20 assists on 23 made baskets. Jah’Mya Simeon (12 points), Salamata Bah (11 points), Precourt (8 points), and Cailynne Tyler- Wilson (6 points) also pitched in for Metro. River Seagrave led West in scoring with 19 points. Additional scorers for West included Synye Baker (12 points), Samone Young (12 points), Laura Minardi (11 points), Morgan Litz (4 points), Aubrie Jodoin (3 points), and Lily Coleman (2 points).

Narrow Victory For Southeast/Coastal Over Northeast

Southeast/Coastal narrowly defeated Northeast, 52-50, on Friday at Lasell University. Ava Butler scored 10 points to lead Southeast/Coastal. Trailing 14-7, Northeast went on a 12-point run to take the lead. Southeast/Coastal trailed 24-22 at halftime before coming back for the victory. The third quarter was the best for Southeast/Coastal as they outscored Northeast 16-12. Southeast/Coastal had four assists in the quarter. Ava Auld hit three threes for Southeast/Coastal. Southeast/Coastal passed the ball well with 16 assists on 18 made baskets. Auld (9 points), Isabelle Rameakea (7 points), Sophia Forrester (6 points), Sabrina Dykeman (4 points), Chloe Ogilvie (4 points), Savannah Ford (3 points), and Amanda Howe (2 points) also pitched in for Southeast/Coastal. Maddy Rodrigues led Northeast in scoring with 16 points. Ashley Cohen and Stella Harrington each hit multiple three-pointers for Northeast. Cohen (12 points), Harrington (11 points), Hannah Frew (5 points), Haley Dube (5 points), Kaitlyn Hashem (2 points), and Celia Harrington (2 points) helped out Northeast as well.

Natalia Morais scored 12 points, but Central still fell to West, 65-48, on Friday at Lasell University. Leading 27-25, West went on an 11-2 run to pull further away. Leading 38-29, West went on an 8-point run to pull further away. Central had five assists in the fourth quarter, as they outscored West 12-11. Morais hit two threes for Central. Central passed the ball well with 21 assists on 22 made baskets. Also contributing for Central were Madelyn Hogan (9 points), Maya Lewis (8 points), Claire Acocelli (8 points), Marren Berry (5 points), Bronwyn LaChapelle (4 points), and Elizabeth Lynch (4 points). Samone Young was the leading scorer for West with 18 points. Synye Baker hit three threes for West. Also contributing for West were Baker (15 points), Laura Minardi (9 points), Lily Coleman (5 points), Aubrie Jodoin (5 points), River Seagrave (5 points), Morgan Litz (4 points), and Olivia Sekowski (3 points).

Northeast Come Back To Defeat Metro

Northeast rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat Metro 45-33 on Saturday at Lasell University. Metro led 18-7 before Northeast mounted their comeback. Ashley Cohen scored 20 points to lead Northeast. Trailing 18-7, Northeast went on a 14-point run to take the lead. Northeast got out to a 21-18 lead at halftime before closing out the victory. The second quarter was the best for Northeast as they outscored Metro 15-2. Cohen scored 10 points in the quarter. Cohen and Stella Harrington each hit multiple three-pointers for Northeast. Northeast passed the ball well with 17 assists on 17 made baskets. Harrington (13 points), Maddy Rodrigues (6 points), Celia Harrington (4 points), and Hannah Frew (2 points) also pitched in for Northeast. Sofia Jimenez scored 12 points to lead Metro. Salamata Bah (7 points), Teagan Precourt (4 points), and Cailynne Tyler- Wilson (2 points) helped out Metro as well.

Central Beat Southeast/Coastal In Back-And-Forth Game

Central defeated Southeast/Coastal, 51-39, in a back-and-forth game on Saturday. There were seven lead changes in the game. Natalia Morais scored 14 points to lead Central. Central had a strong first half, leading 25-20 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory. Leading 27-22, Central went on an 8-point run to pull further away. Leading 36-30, Central went on a 10-3 run to pull further away. Central had seven assists in the third quarter, as they outscored Southeast/Coastal 15-10. Maya Lewis (13 points), Marren Berry (7 points), Madelyn Hogan (5 points), Claire Acocelli (4 points), Bronwyn LaChapelle (3 points), and Elizabeth Lynch (3 points) also pitched in for Central. Sophia Forrester and Amanda Howe led Southeast/Coastal in scoring with six points each. Forrester knocked down two shots from beyond the arc for Southeast/Coastal. Sabrina Dykeman (5 points), Kailey O’ Connell (5 points), Isabelle Rameakea (4 points), Savannah Ford (3 points), Mallorie Peterson (3 points), Ava Auld (3 points), Ava Butler (2 points), and Chloe Ogilvie (2 points) helped out Southeast/Coastal as well.

River Seagrave Carries West To Victory Over Northeast

West past Northeast, 55-46, on Saturday at Lasell University as River Seagrave scored 15 points. West had a strong first half, leading 27-21 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory. West had six assists in the third quarter, as they outscored Northeast 18-6. West passed the ball well with 15 assists on 23 made baskets. Also contributing for West were Samone Young (14 points), Eden Murray (12 points), Laura Minardi (4 points), Lily Coleman (2 points), Synye Baker (2 points), and Olivia Sekowski (2 points). Ashley Cohen was the leading scorer for Northeast with 15 points. Cohen and Stella Harrington each hit multiple three-pointers for Northeast. Metro lost to Central, 52-34, in a game featuring eight lead changes on Saturday at Lasell University. Leading 24-16, Central went on a 7-point run to pull further away. Teagan Precourt and Jah’Mya Simeon led Metro in scoring with eight points each. Cailynne Tyler- Wilson (4 points), Salamata Bah (2 points), Aixa Rosa (2 points), and Sofia Jimenez (2 points) helped out Metro as well. Natalia Morais led Central in scoring with 26 points. Morais hit six threes for Central. Elizabeth Lynch (6 points), Madelyn Hogan (5 points), Marren Berry (5 points), Maya Lewis (4 points), Claire Acocelli (3 points), Bronwyn LaChapelle (2 points), Billie Whittle (2 points), and Maria Fox (1 point) helped out Central as well.

Southeast/Coastal couldn't keep up with West, 55-21, on Saturday at Lasell University. Leading 4-1, West went on a 14-point run to pull further away. Sophia Forrester scored five points to lead Southeast/Coastal. Additional scorers for Southeast/Coastal included Savannah Ford (4 points), Mallorie Peterson (3 points), Chloe Ogilvie (3 points), Ava Butler (2 points), and Isabelle Rameakea (2 points). River Seagrave was the leading scorer for West with 16 points. Seagrave hit two threes for West. Laura Minardi (11 points), Samone Young (10 points), Olivia Sekowski (8 points), Eden Murray (4 points), and Lily Coleman (3 points) also pitched in for West.

Northeast Battle Hard In Loss To Southeast/Coastal

Northeast lost to Southeast/Coastal, 40-34, in a game featuring eight lead changes on Sunday. Northeast had a promising first half, taking a 17-15 lead into halftime, but couldn't hold on for the victory. Trailing 21-20, Southeast/Coastal went on an 8-point run to take the lead. Northeast bested Southeast/Coastal 9-8 in the first quarter, their strongest of the game. Hannah Frew scored nine points to lead Northeast. Also contributing for Northeast were Ashley Cohen (8 points), Maddy Rodrigues (5 points), Stella Harrington (5 points), Haley Dube (3 points), Kaitlyn Hashem (2 points), and Celia Harrington (2 points). Ava Butler was the leading scorer for Southeast/Coastal with 11 points. Central suffered a close loss, 53-49, versus West on Sunday. Central faced a tough challenge, as they fell behind by 10 points 52-42, but never gave up and tried to mount a comeback. Despite getting out to a 25-23 lead at halftime, Central couldn't hold on for the victory. Trailing 25-23, West went on an 11-point run to take the lead. Central bested West 16-13 in the first quarter, their strongest of the game. Madelyn Hogan was the leading scorer for Central with 15 points. Hogan and Natalia Morais each hit multiple three-pointers for Central. Additional scorers for Central included Bronwyn LaChapelle (10 points), Morais (10 points), Claire Acocelli (5 points), Marren Berry (5 points), and Maya Lewis (4 points). Laura Minardi led West in scoring with 15 points. River Seagrave (14 points), Samone Young (14 points), Eden Murray (6 points), Synye Baker (2 points), and Olivia Sekowski (2 points) helped out West as well.

Bay State Games Inducts Three Into the 2026 Hall of Fame

Representative Patricia Haddad (legislative leadership), Representative John Barrett (legislative leadership), and Ryan McCarthy (baseball coach) have been selected for induction into the 2026 Bay State Games’ Hall of Fame. The inductees will receive their award at a pre-game ceremony at Fenway Park on Sunday, June 14 prior to the Red Sox game against Texas. The Bay State Games Hall of Fame was created to recognize past participants who have gone on to prestigious and successful athletic careers, as well as former and current coaches, officials, sports organizers, and volunteers who have made significant contributions to the organization throughout its 38-year history. Past inductees among the over 60 previous honorees include the NBA’s Dana Barros (‘06), Pat Connaughton (‘25) and the late Reggie Lewis (‘02); WNBA’s Rebecca Lobo (‘03); Major League Baseball’s Rich Hill (‘13); Olympians Nancy Kerrigan (‘07), Ada Korkhin (‘25) and Samantha Livingstone (‘18) and US Paralympic Gold Medalist Joe Lemar (‘15). “The Bay State Games is proud of the many athletes who have participated in the program and gone on to achieve success at the collegiate, professional, and Olympic levels. We are equally proud of the coaches, sport organizers, community leaders, and supporters whose dedication, expertise, and generosity have helped make the Bay State Games possible.” Said Kevin Cummings, the Bay State Games Executive Director. “We are honored to recognize this year's Hall of Fame class and celebrate the significant contributions each inductee has made to the Bay State Games. Their commitment, leadership, and lasting impact have strengthened the organization and enriched the experience of countless athletes throughout the Commonwealth.” REP. PATRICIA HADDAD - LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP Massachusetts State Representative Patricia Haddad championed state support for the Bay State Games for over two decades. She has supported the recreation, health, and education-based programs of the organization that benefit thousands of Massachusetts participants each year. A former teacher for 14 years, Rep. Haddad represented the 5th Bristol District for 25 years and served as Speaker Pro Tempore of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for ten years. REP. JOHN BARRETT - LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP Massachusetts State Representative John Barrett from Berkshire County has been a strong supporter of the Bay State Games since the mid-1980s. Rep. Barrett was instrumental in bringing the Winter Games to Berkshire County, where they have been held for over 35 years. He has served as State Representative for Berkshire County since 2017 and was formerly Mayor of North Adams for 26 years. Rep. Barrett is also a leading advocate of the statewide Summer Games. RYAN MCCARTHY - BASEBALL COACH Ryan McCarthy from Portsmouth has served as volunteer baseball coach at the Bay State Games for over two decades. He has led the Northeast team to numerous championship medals. Ryan has devoted more than 25 years to coaching high school student-athletes in both baseball and football at Triton Regional High School, Newburyport High School, and Dighton-Rehoboth High School. He has had a positive impact on countless Massachusetts high school student-athletes. Bay State Games Announces 2026 Athletes of the Year

Bay State Games is excited to announce its selections for the 2026 Athlete of the Year Awards. Any athlete who participated in the 2026 Bay State Summer or Winter Games was eligible to be nominated for these awards. Selection is based on participation in the Games and other athletic achievements. The 2026 selections are: Female Youth Athlete – Dana Howling Wolf Keller Male Youth Athlete – Holden Choma Female Adult Athlete – Kiara Cabral Male Adult Athlete - Jacob DeAndrade Dana Howling Wolf Keller , 17, of Shrewsbury, is a senior at Notre Dame Academy in Worcester and an enrolled member of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Native American Tribe. Volleyball has been a major part of her life. She started unable to serve over the net but, after countless hours of dedication, has turned serving into one of her strengths and learned that confidence is built through persistence. Dana plays setter and right side for her high school team and SLAM national club team, and captains both teams. She was named to the 2025 Central MA Athletic Conference All-Star Team and represented her school as a MIAA sportsmanship delegate. Dana represented the Central region for Girls Volleyball in the Bay State Games in 2024 & 2026. This year, she was also named the sportsmanship recipient for the Central Girls Volleyball team. Dana has also been a Bay State Games High School Ambassador. She has committed to continue playing volleyball in college at the University of St. Joseph (CT). Off the court, Dana extensively volunteers at the Shrewsbury Public Library and Shrewsbury Special Olympics. Notre Dame Academy honored her with the Katherine Forbes Eskrine Award for her community service. Dana is also active in her parish's youth group and has participated in several Catholic leadership programs. She aspires to become a forensic pathologist, and last summer served as a lab assistant to Dr. Ann Burgess in Boston College's Forensic Science Summer Program. Holden Choma, 17, of West Newbury, is a senior at Pentucket Regional High School. Holden has competed in Track and Field since his freshman year and specializes in the high jump. He dedicated himself to jumping higher, and in his first year, he improved from 5'2 to 6'6.75, and was at the top of the MIAA. He is also a 2x USATF Region 1 champion in the high jump. He also competed at the 2025 USATF Junior Olympics and was the 15-16 National Runner-Up. This year he faced a setback after suffering a patellar tendon tear on his jumping leg. After nearly a year to fully heal, he was the MIAA Division 5 champion in the spring, and this summer he competed in his second Bay State Games after winning silver in the 2025 high jump. Holden broke his slump by shattering a 30-year-old Bay State Games record in the high jump at 2.05m (6'8.75) and took home the gold medal. Outside of jumping, Holden enjoys volunteering at Ipswich Junior Sailing, teaching children how to sail safely, and now works as an instructor. As a member of his school's band, he marched in West Newbury's Veterans Day Parade and held a private performance for local veterans. Kiara Cabral, 23, of Somerset, is a recent graduate of Bridgewater State University. She also competed as a student-athlete on the track and field team in sprinting events. She had a storied career as a Bridgewater State Bear achieving accolades from the school to the national level. Kiara was named 2026 Woman’s Athlete of the Year by Bridgewater State and holds five school records in 60m Indoor, 200m Indoor, 400m Indoor + Outdoor, 500m Indoor, and 4x100 Outdoor. In the MASCAC conference she holds six championship titles which she earned from 2022 to 2026. The conference named Kiara Athlete of the Week on 21 occasions and she holds two conference records in the 4x100 and the 400m. Kiara was placed on the All-Academic team for three seasons and the Sportsmanship team once. She has been nationally recognized as an NCAA All-American and qualified for both the indoor and outdoor nationals in 2025 and the indoor nationals again in 2026. Kiara was first team All-American in the outdoor 4x100 relay in 2025 and the indoor 400m in 2026, and was named second team All-American for outdoor 400m in 2025. This summer, Kiara competed in the Bay State Games in the 100m and 200m events. She was the gold medalist in both events running a time of 12.51 in the 100m and 25.35 in the 200m. Kiara graduated last spring with a degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education. She has always had a passion for helping children understand and enjoy math, and will enter her first year teaching middle school math this fall. Jacob DeAndrade, 26 , of Foxboro, graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2024 with a Master of Business Administration and currently works in finance. Jacob was an accomplished student-athlete at Bridgewater State. In his rookie season at Bridgewater State, the school named him Rookie of the Year. He was a 10x Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference champion and a 3x member of the DIII All-Academic team. He is a 2x competitor in the Bay State Games Track and Field event. This year, Jacob had an especially impressive showing, earning gold in the 100m Open and 200m Open events with times of 10.83 and 22.04. In his free time, Jacob enjoys running, lifting, and playing soccer. Bay State Games Athlete of the Year recipients will receive a plaque commemorating their accomplishment.
