Junior - 3P Small-bore Rifle Shooting

Targets: A26/6 - 50 Meter Small-bore Target- A25 100 yard or orion scan targets for both distances

Relays: Each relay will accomodate 18 competitors (this may change due to construction). Spots will be drawn at random on the day of the match. Competitors will not be allowed to switch locations unless approved by the match director.



Course of Fire: Metallic Sights

  • Match #1: 20 shots, prone, metallic sights, A-26/6 or orion scored targets, 20 min
  • Match #2: 20 shots, standing, metallic sights, A-26/6 or orion scored target, 30 min
  • Match #3: 20 shots, kneeling, metallic sights, A-26/6 or orion scored target, 30 min
  • Match #4: 20 shot, prone, metallic sights, A-25 or orion scored targets, 20 min


An athlete must meet one of the following criteria:

  • A full time resident of MA, ME, VT, NH, NY, RI, and CT
  • A full time student in a Massachusetts university or college

Age Divisions

Junior: Ages 10-14
Scholastic: Ages 15-19

All participants will receive a Bay State Games T-Shirt. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be given for overall match top three athletes. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be given for each age division. Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be given for each participating state provided there are at least 6 athletes from each state participating. If there is not enough to create a separate category, those athletes will be put in with the athletes from MA. Each medalist will receive a 2019 Bay State Games athlete gift which is a black pullover. Participants will only receive one athlete gift even if they medal in multiple categories.


  • NRA air rifle scoring rules will apply
  • This is not a NRA registered match
  • NRA membership is not required to participate


All Competitors, Parents, Coaches and observers are to conduct themselves professionally on and off the line.  Any interference in the running of the match will not be tolerated and such individuals will be asked to leave. Competitors are asked to keep all equipment neatly organized behind them in such a way that a clear path is there for line officials.  All competitor and spectators are asked to clean up after the matches are completed.Once the competitors are called to the line, only the line officials may approach the competitor.  If a coach would like to talk to a competitor they need to contact the line official and they will pull the competitor from the line. Observers, parents and coaches are encouraged to sit and relax behind the firing line.  Sun screen,  bug spray, hats and lots of water is recommended.

Directions to Match

Take I-93 North. At I-93 Exit 37A, turn off onto ramp. Merge onto I-95 North/RT-128 N towards PEABODY. At I-95 exit number 40- towards WAKEFIELD CTR./N. READING turn off onto ramp. Coming off the ramp go around the rotary and go back under 128 and stay in the right lane. Haverhill St is the first street on the right, you will see the National Guard Base on the right side at the beginning of the street. Continue up the street for about one mile. On your right you will see the sign for the Ice arena  and Reading Rifle. On the left is a church. Take a right onto the same street as the ice arena, but stay on the right side of the road and continue up the road past the ice arena. The road splits left for the arena and right for the gun club. You will come to The Gate of the Club. Continue thru the gate, proceed along the road until you come to the main club house.

State Games of America

All medalists in this event will qualify for the State Games of America in 2019 at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA.
