USFS Figure Skating



Registration for the 2018 Bay State Games Figure Skating competition is now closed. The competition is completely full and no additional entries can be accepted. We are currently starting a waiting list and may be able to add competitors if there are scratches from the current list of athletes that registered by the deadline. To get placed on the waiting list, please email Please provide the athletes name, cell phone number, email address, association (IS or US) and event that you would like to participate in. If there is a scratch in your event we will notify you that a spot is available.

Entry Fees

$100 for the first event (on or before November 15, 2017)

$110 for the first event (on or after November 16, 2017)

$50 for each additional event


An athlete must meet at least one of the following guidelines:

  • A full-time resident of Massachusetts
  • A full-time student at an academic institution in Massachusetts
  • A registered member of a figure skating club in Massachusetts. The club must be the athlete’s exclusive “contact” within the sport

Any athlete that meets any of the above criteria will be classified in the competition as a participant from Massachusetts for the purpose of distribution of invitations for the State Games of America.

An athlete that does not meet any of the criteria listed above can also participate in the Bay State Games if:

  • They are a resident of Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont, which do not have their own State Games organization or host a State Games figure skating event.

Any athlete that participates under eligibility Rule 4 would be classified in the competition as a participant from their state of residence for the purpose of distribution of invitation for the State Games of America.

Registration Deadline

The registration Deadline is Friday, December 15, 2017

Updating Test Levels

Bay State Game can change the level of a registered participant until December 15, 2017. Bay State Games cannot add additional entrants once the competition is full. Athletes should register at their current level. Once an athlete is registered, if they move up a level, the athlete must contact the Bay State Games office at 781-932-6555 or email so their registration can be updated. 


All athletes must be at least 5 years old by February 10, 2018 to be eligible.


Athletes can enter up to three events (US and/or IS).

For USFSA events, Bay State Games will offer the Test Track (Restricted) free skate program and the Well Balance (Unrestricted) free skate program

  • Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, Pre- Juvenile, and Juvenile can compete in Free skate only. All athletes can choose to compete in either Test Track or Well Balanced, but not both

  • Junior and Senior can compete in Free Skate and/or Short Program. Test track is not offered at these levels

  • Adult Gold, Adult Silver, Adult Bronze, Master Senior, Master Junior, Master Novice, and Master Intermediate can compete in Free Skate only


  • Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three athletes in each division and event/flight

  • Top finishers in each division/event/flight will also receive an invitation to the 2019 State Games of America Figure Skating competition in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University

  • State Games of America invitations will be distributed on a state by state basis

  • All registered athletes receive a 2017 Bay State Games T-shirt, a Bay State Games Athelte ID Card and free admission to an athlete pizza party.
