Entry Fees

First event: $100 on or before November 15, 2018.
                      $110 on or after November 16, 2018.

Additional events: $50 



An athlete must meet at least one of the following guidelines:

  • A full-time resident of Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.
  • A full-time student at an academic institution in Massachusetts.
  • A registered member of a figure skating club in Massachusetts. Athletes entering under this eligibility can not be apart of a non Massachusetts club as well.

Athletes that are Massachusetts residents, full-time students in MA, or a member of a MA skating club will be classified as a participant from Massachusetts  for the purpose of distribution of invitations for the State Games of America.

Athletes from Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Vermont, will be classified in the competition as a participant from their state of residency for the purpose of distribution of invitations for the State Games of America per eligibility Rule 4.

Event Times

The 2019 Bay State Games Figure Skating competition will follow the 2018/2019 USFS Rule Book.  According to the USFS rule book, the program lengths for Well Balanced Free Skate Programs in Intermediate, Novice and Junior divisions will be changing as of February 2, 2019. The Bay State Games Figure Skating competition held on February 9 & 10, 2019 will be using these new program lengths that take effect on February 1, 2019. The new program lengths are as follows:

Junior Men & Ladies Well Balanced Freeskate  3:30 +/- 10 sec  (as of  2/1/2019)

Novice Men & Ladies Well Balanced Freestkate 3:30 +/- 10 sec (as of 2/1/2019)

Intermediate Men & Ladies Well Balanced Freeskate  3:00 +/- 10 sec  (as of 2/1/2019)

Updating Test Levels

Bay State Game can change the level of a registered participant until December 17, 2018. Bay State Games cannot add additional entrants once the competition is full. Athletes should register at their current level. Once an athlete is registered, if they move up a level, the athlete must contact the Bay State Games office at 781-932-6555 or email so their registration can be updated. 


All athletes must be at least 5 years old by February 9, 2019 to be eligible.


Athletes can enter up to three events (US and/or IS).

For USFSA events, Bay State Games will offer the Excel free skate program and the Well Balance (Unrestricted) free skate program

  • Pre-Preliminary, Preliminary, Pre- Juvenile, and Juvenile can compete in Free skate only. All athletes can choose to compete in either Excel or Well Balanced, but not both
  • Junior and Senior can compete in Free Skate and/or Short Program. Excel is not offered at these levels
  • Adult Gold, Adult Silver, Adult Bronze, Master Senior, Master Junior, Master Novice, and Master Intermediate can compete in Free Skate only


  • Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the top three athletes in each division and event/flight
  • All medalist will receive a 2019 Bay State Games athlete gift.
  • Top finishers in each division/event/flight will also receive an invitation to the 2019 State Games of America Figure Skating competition in Lynchburg, Virginia at Liberty University
  • All registered athletes receive a 2019 Bay State Games T-shirt, a Bay State Games Athelte ID Card and free admission to an athlete pizza party.

State Games of America

All medalist in this event will qualify for the 2019 State Games of America in Lynchburg, Virginia on July 31-August 4, 2019.
