After heavy rain cancelled all games on the first day of the tournament, teams were ready to play on Saturday.
Game 1 - Coastal v. Central
In the opening game of the 2021 Bay State Summer Games Field Hockey tournament, Coastal proved themselves to be a tough competitor after blanking Central 3-0. Coastal spread the wealth across the offense as there were 3 different goal scorers in the win.
Game 2 - West v. Southeast
Both teams were defensively sound in this game as a combined 1 goal was scored between the two teams. Midfielder Elizabeth Santore (#11) got the go-ahead, and game winning, goal to send West past Southeast 1-0.
Game 3 - Metro/Northeast v. Central
Metro/Northeast set the tone for the rest of the tournament with a dominant performance. The team had 3 different goal scorers in the win blanking Central by a score of 3-0.
Game 4 - Coastal v. West
A well balanced attack from team Coastal led them to prevail over West by a score of 4-2. Avery Johnsen (#1) of East Falmouth, MA and Falmouth HS paced the offense with two goals for the Coastal squad.
Game 5 - Metro/Northeast v. Southeast
Smooth sailing for Metro/Northeast as they were able to cruise past Southeast by a score of 4-0. Grace Seabury (#11) of Wakefield HS highlighted the offense scoring 2 goals for the squad.
Game 6 - West v. Central
In a very evenly fought game, Central was able to edge West by a score of 2-1. Goal scorers for Central included Olivia Lozoraitis (#7) and Katelyn Fairhurst (#3) while Madyson Kuchieski (#1) found the back of the net for the West.
Game 7 - Coastal v. Metro/Northeast
Metro/Northeast received a hat-trick from D/M Alana Richardson (#7) and slid past team Coastal for a 3-1 win.
Game 8 - Southeast v. Coastal
As time ran down, neither Southeast or Coastal could find the back of the net resulting in the game ending in a 1-1 tie. Zofia Bangs (#9) of Stoughton, MA, recorded the single goal for team Southeast while Kaleigh Murphy of Pembroke, MA had the goal for Coastal.
Game 9 - West v. Metro/Northeast
In a very close, evenly-matched battle, Grace Seabury (#11) and Alana Richardson (#7) lifted Metro/Northeast over West 2-1 with Madyson Kuchieski (#1) getting the lone goal for the West.
Game 10 - Southeast v. Central
Central cruised on to a 3-1 win spreading the goal scoring amongst #1 Chloe Kaeller (2) and #15 Alyssa Macneil (1). Megan Courtney (#14) out of South Hadley HS had the lone tally for team Southeast.
Bronze Medal Game - West v. Central
In the afternoon matinee, Central was able to squeeze by the West earning themselves the bronze medal and a 2-2 record on the weekend. This 2-1 defeat at the hands of Central moved the West into 4th place with a 1-3 record.
Gold Game - Coastal v. Metro/Northeast
Gold Medal Game - Metro/Northeast v. Coastal
Metro/Northeast continued their winning ways earning themselves the gold medal with a 1-0 win over team Coastal in the championship game. Despite a strong effort from Coastal, (# ) was able to beat the goaltender securing the win for Metro/Northeast. Metro/Northeast finished the showcase 4-0 while Coastal finished at 2-1-1.
