Tuesday, July 12
Game 1
Northeast: 2
Southeast: 9

In the first game of the tournament, it was a good one until the end. Southeast was leading 2-1 going into the 5th when they exploded for 7 runs to take the lead for good. Led by Alyssa Edwards (Stoughton, Stoughton HS) who provided a 2-run double and by Liberty Farry (Holbrook, Norfolk County Agricultural HS) who held Northeast to 2 runs over 7 innings, Southeast got off to a fast start.

Game 2
Metro: 9
Coastal: 8

In a back in forth game the whole way, Metro scored 9 in the first 5 innings which proved to be enough as Coastal’s comeback fell short. Shakura Lynch (Boston, Winsor School) powered the way with 3 hits and Metro was off to a 1-0 start.

Game 3
West: 6
Central: 9

Defending champions West opened up their summer against Central. Game was very close until Central pulled away defeating West 9-6. West got a home run from Lauren Morse (Holyoke, Easthampton HS) but it wasn’t enough as Central racked up 7 hits in the victory. 

Game 4
Southeast: 8
Metro: 5

Southeast and Metro both came into this game 1-0 but Southeast was able to hold on and win to become 2-0. Once again led by Alyssa Edwards (Stoughton, Stoughton HS) who had 2 hits they pulled away from Metro who wasn’t able to catch up.

Game 5 
Coastal: 4
West: 9 

West and Coastal came into this game trying to even up their records at 1-1. Game was close as West led 4-3 going into the bottom of the 4th until they exploded for 5 runs to expand their lead and win 9-4. Madison Sunderland (Ludlow, Ludlow HS) went the distance allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and West got the win to even their record to 1-1

Game 6
Northeast: 3
Central: 11

Central looking to start the tournament 2-0 got off to a hot start as they scored 3 in the first off 5 hits. They didn’t stop their as they kept piling on the runs as they won 11-3. They had 16 hits and with a full team effort pulled away. Heather Cotter (Hudson, Advanced Math & Science Academy) went the distance on the mound and got the win. 


Wednesday, July 14
Game 7
Central: 4
Southeast: 4

In a matchup between the 2 undefeated teams from day 1, it was a complete back and forth the whole way. Central was down to their last 2 outs but Danielle Belliveau (Baldwinville, Monty Tech) started the rally with a 1 out double. The next batter, Gabrielle Sweeney (Shirley, Ayer HS) had a double of her own that scored Belliveau to tie up the game 4-4. Southeast was unable to walk it off and this game finished in a 4-4 tie.

Game 8
Metro: 5
Northeast: 8

Northeast was looking for their first win of the showcase as they faced off against Metro. The game got off to a fast start as Metro took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a 2 run single by Shakura Lynch (Boston, Winsor School). Northeast battled back in the bottom half of the first and took the lead 3-2 on a 2-run triple by Samantha Serio (Middleton, Masconomet Regional HS) followed up by an RBI single from Ella Tucker, who had 3 hits in the game, Northeast never looked back and got their first win 8-5. 

Game 9
Metro: 4
West: 10

A total team effort by West who scored 10 runs on 10 hits to beat Metro 10-4. Kenzie Raymond (Westfield, Westfield HS) had 3 hits while Hailey Wodecki (Southampton, Hampshire Regional HS) added 2 more. MacKenzie Paulin (Greenfield, Greenfield HS) went the distance giving up 4 runs on 3 hits to help West improve to 2-1.

Game 10
Northeast: 8
Coastal: 7

Coastal looking to get in the win column got off to a fast and early start scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 7-0 lead. Northeast never gave up as they clawed their way back scoring 2 in the 4th and 5 in the 5th to tie the game 7-7. In the top of the 7th, they look the lead on an Ella Tucker (Gloucester, Essex Agricultural & Technical HS) single that scored Izzy Henderson (Lawrence, Austin Prep). That would be all they needed as Sadie Putnam shut the door in the bottom of the 7th giving Northeast its 2nd win of the day.

Game 11
Coastal: 3
Central: 7

Central took the lead 7-0 in the bottom of the first and never gave it up. 7 of the 9 batters scored in the inning and that would be all they needed. Heather Cotter (Hudson, Advanced Math & Science Academy) and Peyton Maloney (West Boylston, West Boylston HS) shut down Coastal on the mound holding them to 2 runs on 3 hits as Central improved to 3-0-1. 

Game 12
Southeast: 7
West: 8

In a tight back and forth game to end day 2, West was able to walk it off and in 8-7. Alyssa Edwards (Stoughton, Stoughton HS) go the scoring started for Southeast with a 2 run homer. Moja Premmy (Westfield, Westfield HS) singled in the bottom of the 7th for West, and Madison Sunderland (Ludlow, Ludlow HS) scored as West escaped with a victory to improve to 3-1.

Thursday, July 15
Game 13
Central: 13
Metro: 5

Central was looking to lock up the top seed in the tournament and advance to the gold medal game as they faced off against Metro. They started early as they scored 4 runs in the first to take the early lead. They kept adding to their lead and a full team effort they ended up with 13 runs and won 13-5 securing themselves a spot in the gold medal game.  

Game 14
Coastal: 11
Southeast: 5

Coastal looking to finish the tournament on a high note took on Southeast in their last game. They scored 4 runs in 2 separate innings led by Lilly Furman (Harwich, Monomoy Regional HS) who had 2 hits. Coastal won the game 11-5 and won the sportsmanship award presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods for their outstanding sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Southeast secured their spot in the bronze medal game.

Game 15
West: 16
Northeast: 0
In a lopsided game West just kept scoring. Morgan Peabody (West Springfield, West Springfield HS) provided 3 hits and scored 3 runs as West won this game 16-0. The 1 hit shutout by MacKenzie Paulin (Greenfield, Greenfield HS) secured West's spot in the gold medal game while Northeast advanced to the bronze medal game.

Game 16: Gold Medal Game
West: 12
Central: 6

In a highly anticipated rematch from the first day of the tournament, West took on top seeded Central in the gold medal game. West took a 5-0 lead in the 2nd highlighted by a Madison Sunderland (Ludlow, Ludlow HS) 2-run homer. Central came right back and scored 6 in the third to take a 6-5 lead. An Alyssa Slack (Westfield, Westfield Vocational Technical HS) double tied the game for and Moja Premmy (Westfield, Westfield HS) got them the lead with another double. Hailey Wodecki (Southampton, Hampshire Regional HS) added a solo shot and Lauren Morse added a 2 run shot for good measure as West won 12-6 and took home gold.

Game 17: Bronze Medal Game
Northeast: 2
Southeast: 3

In a very close bronze medal game, Southeast was able to escape with a 3-2 victory. Alyssa Edwards (Stoughton, Stoughton HS) provided a 2-run shot in the first inning giving Southeast and early 2-0 lead. Edwards added another RBI double in the 3rd to make it 3-0. Northeast came back and scored 2 in the top of the 4th to make it a 3-2 game. In the top of the 7th Northeast was threatening but Taylor Dolan (Holbrook, Holbrook Jr/Sr HS) shut the door and Southeast won bronze.

WOBURN – Bay State Games is excited to announce a new partnership with Mass Youth Soccer. Bay State Games Boys and Girls Soccer has a long history of showcasing some of the best high school players in Massachusetts in an event well attended by college coaches from dozens of New England area schools. Many high school coaches across the state have supported Bay State Games by volunteering to serve as team coaches or providing their players with information on the competition. The partnership will help ensure that all high school players and coaches across Massachusetts are aware of the valuable opportunities available through the Bay State Games soccer competition and the outstanding programs provided by Mass Youth Soccer including District. This also allows Bay State Games and Mass Youth Soccer to coordinate their event schedules to avoid conflicts and allow players to be part of both the events. "We are pleased to collaborate with the Mass Youth Soccer Association and coordinate our tournament schedules," said Kevin Cummings, Executive Director of the Bay State Games. "We hope that this collaboration will allow Massachusetts soccer athletes to participate in and reap the benefits of competing in both the Bay State Games Soccer Showcase and Mass Youth Soccer’s Districts Program." “Mass Youth Soccer is excited to collaborate with the Bay State Games and provide opportunities for athletes across the state to participate in exciting soccer programs and events through calendar alignment and shared communication,” said Rob Holliday, Executive Director, Mass Youth Soccer. “We hope to expand the partnership with Bay State Games in future years!” Registration for the 2024 Bay State Games Boys and Girls Soccer Showcase competition is now open. The showcase tournament will take place July 11-13 at Game On in Fitchburg. Athletes can register to try out for one of six regional teams based on where they live and/or go to high school. Woburn, Mass. – Bay State Games has been selected as a beneficiary of the Stop & Shop Community Bag Program for the month of April. The Stop & Shop Community Bag Program, which launched in May 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work. Bay State Games was selected as the February beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Stop & Shop located at 2 Elm Street in Woburn . WOBURN, MA – Registration for the 42nd annual Bay State Summer Games is now open. The 2024 Summer Games will include thirty sports with competitions from May 11 – July 27 at venues throughout eastern and central Massachusetts including Game On in Fitchburg, Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, and North Star Ice Sports in Westborough. Bay State Games participants range in age from 5 to over age 75 and represent more than 300 Massachusetts communities as well as surrounding New England States in some sports. From grassroots participants to accomplished amateur athletes, the Bay State Games provide opportunities for the athlete in all of us. Seven high school showcase sports will take place for a variety of sports, including baseball, basketball, field hockey, ice hockey, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Athletes currently in grade 8-11 who live or go to school in Massachusetts are eligible to attend regional tryouts during the month of June. These tryouts will determine teams representing the various regions of the Commonwealth that will compete against each other in July. Check each sport page for specific eligibility requirements. The Summer Games include a wide variety of individual sports including swimming, track & field, figure skating, pickleball, wrestling, weightlifting, badminton, and more. These sports are open to a wide range of ages and skill levels from youth participants to masters-aged athletes. Adaptive sport divisions in archery, swimming, and track & field are offered, as well. Bay State Games also organizes tournaments for pre-existing teams in rugby, and 6v6 field hockey. Returning in 2024, Table Tennis will take place on June 1 at PingPod in Boston after a 5-year hiatus from the Summer Games sport lineup. New venues include Babson College , which will host the Girls Basketball Showcase, and NorthStar Ice Sports , which will host Figure Skating and the Girls Ice Hockey Showcase. Game On in Fitchburg will serve as a hub venue for eight sports. Bay State Games expects 1,500 athletes and their families to attend competitions at Game On during the second week of July. Bay State Games is pleased to announce a new partnership with Marathon Sports to provide athletes, officials, and volunteers with a special, traditional Bay State Games gift. Details will be released later in March. “We are excited to present the 2024 version of the Bay State Summer Games where Massachusetts amateur athletes of all ages and abilities can have their ‘Time to Shine,’” said Kevin Cummings, Executive Director of the Bay State Games. “This year will feature the addition of table tennis and ultimate as well as several new host venues including Babson College in Wellesley, Howard Park and Maplewood Park in Malden and NorthStar Ice Sports in Westborough. WOBURN (November 20, 2023) – The Bay State Games has selected six statewide scholarship recipients for the 2023 Future Leaders Scholarship Program. These student-athletes were selected from a large applicant pool after a process that included committee reviews of all applications and virtual interviews with selected applicants. These future leaders were selected based on their achievements and involvement in academics, community service, athletics, and leadership roles. The Bay State Games Future Leaders Scholarship program was established in 1989 and has since distributed nearly $400,000 in financial aid. Each of these high school seniors will receive a $1,000 scholarship. “Since its inception in 1989, the Future Leaders Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding high school students that excel in the classroom, in the community and on the field of play,” said Kevin Cummings, Executive Director of the Bay State Games. “We are proud that this program has provided nearly $400,000 in aid to support the continuing education of these well deserving student-athletes that represent all regions of Massachusetts and over 25 different sports.” This year’s six scholarship recipients are:

WOBURN, MA – Massachusetts Amateur Sports Foundation/Bay State Games is one of the many nonprofit organizations who were accepted into the 2024 Bank of America Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program. As an Official Charity, Bay State Games is offering runners the opportunity to participate as an official entrant in the 2024 Boston Marathon®. The 128th running of the 128th Boston Marathon® presented by Bank of America will take place on Monday, April 15, 2024.  The Bay State Games Charity Team gives runners the opportunity to compete in one of the world's most famous marathons and achieve their athletic goals while raising funds that go directly toward Bay State Games programming. These funds are essential to allow the Bay State Games to continue its mission of producing quality recreational, health, and educational programming for Massachusetts citizens of all ages and abilities. “For over 40 years, Bay State Games has impacted hundreds of thousands of Massachusetts athletes of all ages and abilities through its recreation, education, and personal development programs,” said Bay State Games Executive Director, Kevin Cummings. “Being selected to become a member of the Bank of America Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program will not only raise important funds that will support Bay State Games initiatives but will also provide our athletic minded constituents with an opportunity to participate in the most prestigious marathon in the world.” Team members will receive several amenities including a team singlet and Bay State Games clothing, as well as training and fundraising support. Applicants must be a minimum of age 18 and capable of running a marathon in less than six hours.
