Have you ever seen a BSG Entry Booklet?
Believe it on not, there was a time before online registration and a BSG website where Bay State Games received around 10,000 paper registrations in the mail.
Thousands of entry booklets like the one on the left from 1998 were sent to athletes all around Massachusetts including all the tournament information you now find on our sport webpages, town codes (below), and ads from sponsors. All athletes would tear out the middle page which had the entry form on one side and the waiver on the other and mail a completed form back to the BSG office.
Executive Director, Kevin Cummings, remembers the times when several USPS mail bins full of these entry forms were delivered to the BSG headquarters each day. On top of that, each paper registration received would have to be organized by sports and manually typed into the BSG database (it builds character, right?). Interns and staff would spend hours daily completing this task. Could you imagine having to do this in 2022? (Our current interns gasped at the thought of it).

Some of the BSG staff can't imagine what it must have been like organizing the thousands of entry forms that were delivered toward registration deadlines. We are thankful we have a digital alternative now!
