BSG 40 - Title IX
Today, June 23, 2022, we celebrate 50 years of Title IX.
So, what is Title IX?
Title IX states “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance”
In just 37 words, none of which are "sports," the landscape of sports were changed to provide more groundbreaking opportunities for girls and women in sport. Since then, Title IX has worked to provide more opportunities for minority groups.

Bay State Games has offered divisions for girls and women since the start. As we are celebrating our 40th year, 27 of 30 sports offered in 2022 include a women's division.
While a lot of progress has been made, we look forward to what the next 50 years will bring to increase inclusion in sport.
