BSG 40 - Summer Games Figure Skating
Did someone say Summer Games Figure Skating? You bet! It was a day celebrated in the BSG office - the live first event in 15 months!
COVID presented a lot of challenges, but one opportunity that was presented was holding 2021 Bay State Games Figure Skating in conjunction with the Summer Games for the first time, instead of in the winter. Ironically, it was the first Summer Games event in 2021 and the first since March 2020.
The 2021 event featured more than 250 skaters, 350 starts, and 32 hours of competition ice time at Nashoba Valley Olympia Rink in Boxborough.

The success of the summer event led to the idea to host two figure skating events each year - one as a part of the Winter Games and in the Summer Games. 2022 still brought it's challenges with holding a winter event, so Bay State Games quickly pivoted toward preparing the summer event, but with some new additions, including the addition of IJS competition to Bay State Games.
The second BSG Summer Figure Skating competition takes place June 18, 2022 at Nashoba Valley Olympia Rink in Boxborough. Stay tuned for highlights from the competition and for many more summer and winter competitions!
