BSG 40 - 1996 Winter Games
The 1996 Winter Games were held February 2-4 throughout the Berkshire region. Hundreds of winter sport athletes made their way to the Berkshires for their chance to win Bay State Winter Games gold in four sports.

Figure Skating was held at Williams College, highlighted by the skating show on Saturday, February 3 featuring Fred Palascak and Melanie Lambert. Masters Ice Hockey was held at Vietnam Veterans Rink in North Adams, Alpine Skiing was at Jiminy Peak in Hancock, and Cross Country Skiing was at the Swift River Inn in Cunningham.
Some volunteers braved the cold to carry the torch in a torch relay to mark the start of the 1996 Winter Games.
